Rheya Labs secures £8m to prevent sewage discharges with battery technology

An estimated £8m investment has been raised by Rheya Labs Limited to expand its technical solutions for the water utility sector. Based in Bury St. Edmunds, the company focuses on research and experimental development within natural sciences and engineering. This latest funding round values the business at an estimated £34.9m post-money.
The startup prevents illegal sewage discharges by retrofitting batteries to pumping stations, which ensures operations continue during power failures. Its AI platform further supports utility providers by analyzing flow and power data to identify network blockages and reduce energy costs. These tools are designed to provide real-time insights into the health and performance of physical infrastructure.
Incorporated in January 2026, the firm has secured a total of £30.5m in funding across the current year. Formal documentation for this specific share allotment was filed in June 2026.
