Lowland single malt Scotch whisky producer Ardgowan Distillery Company Limited has raised an estimated £11m in a new funding round. Based in Inverkip on the West coast of Scotland, the company manufactures premium single malt and blended malt whiskies, including its Clydebuilt range.
The business was incorporated in 2016 and targets global whisky consumers with distribution networks across Europe, North America, and Asia. Alongside its core production, Ardgowan Distillery offers private cask ownership opportunities and operates distillery tours from its facility.
This £11m investment follows a series of capital raises over the last decade. The company secured £1.1m (June 2025). During 2021, it completed three separate allotments in June totaling £3.76m, consisting of rounds of £2m, £1.2m, and £564.1k. Other previous funding includes £629.3k (May 2022), £286.6k (December 2018), and several seed-stage injections in 2017 ranging from £14.2k to £365.5k.
Financial records for the year ended 30 June 2024 show the company employed 8 people at that time. More recent data from LinkedIn indicates the headcount has since grown to 13 staff members. The distillery focuses on the premium segment of the spirits market, combining traditional Scotch production with investment models such as cask sales.
The latest funding (May 2026) is the largest single capital injection for the Inverkip-based firm to date. This round brings the total known funding raised by the company to over £17m since its inception.
