Mialgae Ltd secures £2.5m Series A for sustainable feed production

MiAlgae Ltd produces feed supplements rich in omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids to replace traditional fishmeal. Founded in 2016, the Edinburgh-based company aims to address the decline of wild fish stocks by providing a sustainable alternative for the global livestock and pet feed industries.

The firm, which operates within the waste management and remediation sector, has secured an estimated £2.5m Series A funding round. This latest capital injection follows a £7m total raised during 2025. It utilizes a zero-waste process that recycles nutritional co-products from whisky production and wastewater to cultivate micro-algae, returning clean water as a byproduct of the manufacturing cycle.

According to accounts for the year ended 30 September 2025, the business employed 59 people. More recent data from LinkedIn indicates the workforce has since grown to 62 staff members.

Documentation for the transaction was filed in June (with an allotment date in March).
