Scripta Therapeutics secures £3.8m for neurodegenerative disease research

Targeting neurodegenerative disorders through genome-wide mapping, Scripta Therapeutics has raised £3.8m in seed capital. The Oxford-based biotechnology business, founded in 2024, develops disease-modifying therapeutics by identifying molecules that modulate transcription factors, which act as master regulators of gene expression. This approach uses AI and informatics combined with a data-rich, lab-in-the-loop combination of experimental research to reprogram biology and restore healthy cell states.

Initial research focuses on conditions including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS, treating these master controllers as dynamic maps of disease. Total funding raised previously reached £4.8m.

The company recorded a £1.8m loss for the financial year ending 31 December 2025. While statutory accounts for that period reported five employees, current LinkedIn data suggests the team has expanded to 20 staff members. Formal documentation for the investment was filed in September following an August share allotment.
