Osler Diagnostics raises estimated £1.6m for portable testing platform

An estimated £1.6m has been raised by Osler Diagnostics to support the development of its portable diagnostic technology. The Oxford-based company focuses on the Osler Origin, a high-performance instrument designed to provide lab-quality results outside of traditional clinical settings.

The company was incorporated in 2016 and emerged from the University of Oxford in 2017. Its technology builds on research from the same department responsible for the portable electrochemical blood glucose sensor. The Osler Origin functions as a portable lab, consolidating multiple diagnostic tests onto a single device to provide fast, multiplexed results across global healthcare settings.

This latest investment follows several previous funding rounds. Osler Diagnostics raised £4.4m in February 2023 and £1m in January 2021. A larger round of £33.9m was completed in November 2020, following a £9.6m raise in January 2019. The 2019 round was completed at a valuation of £28.6m.

Financial records for the year ended 31 December 2024 show the company reported a loss of £27.1m. During that period, the business employed 153 people. LinkedIn data indicates a current headcount of 126 employees.

The new capital was raised through an allotment of shares (May 2026). This funding will be used to continue the development and deployment of the Osler Origin platform as the company seeks to expand access to diagnostic testing.
