Modern Rum Co secures £67.5k for DropWorks distillery

An estimated £67.5k has been raised by Modern Rum Co Ltd to support its distilling operations in Exeter, South West England. The company produces naturally made, small-batch British rum under the DropWorks Rum Distillery brand. Its production process utilizes grade-A molasses, wild yeast, and bespoke copper stills to create its spirits.

Founded in 2021, the business distributes its products through an online store and directly to the hospitality trade. It also generates revenue through on-site tours provided to consumers at its production facility. This investment follows a larger funding total of £972.9k recorded in 2025.

Financial records for the year ended 30 November 2024 show the company maintained a headcount of nine employees. Documentation for the new share issue was filed in July, following an allotment of shares that took place in April.
