Bath-based Bactery Ltd secures estimated £249.5k seed funding for soil-powered batteries

An estimated £249.5k seed round has been secured by Bactery Ltd to scale its bacteria-powered batteries. Based in Bath, the company develops technology that harvests green energy from soil to provide a sustainable power source for remote sensors and IoT devices.

Targeting the agriculture sector primarily to support precision agriculture, ambitions include broader applications in rural and urban electrification.

Incorporation occurred in 2023, and the firm is classified under research and experimental development on biotechnology. According to latest accounts for the year ended 30 June 2025, a headcount of three employees was recorded. The funding was filed and allotted in June.
