Volklec secures £2m investment for NMC cell production

An estimated £2m has been raised by Volklec Limited to support the production of lithium-ion NMC cells for high-performance applications. Based in Coventry, the company produces 21700 tabbed energy cells and tabless power units, with this investment resulting in an estimated post-money valuation of £35.6m.
The startup was incorporated in 2023 within the renewable energy semiconductor manufacturing industry to address the needs of the defence, aerospace, automotive, industrial, marine, and off-highway sectors. Its engineering focus centers on providing power for high-value manufacturing industries that require high energy density. Volklec utilizes a low-risk design and delivery strategy intended to accelerate the commercialization of electrification solutions.
While accounts for the year ended 31 December 2024 recorded one employee, current company data suggests the team has expanded to 11 staff members. This round constitutes the total capital raised by the business throughout 2026. The share allotment occurred in August, with the corresponding regulatory documentation filed in September.
