Corporate video production via synthetic avatars and text-to-speech technology is the core offering of Synthesia Limited, which recently closed a £423.8k seed round. Based in London, the company provides software that allows businesses to generate professional videos from text, targeting applications in training, marketing, and internal communications.
Founded in 2017, Synthesia provides an AI video platform that enables corporate clients to create professional content without the need for traditional filming equipment. The software uses synthetic avatars to deliver scripts in 160 languages. Thousands of companies currently use the service, including Amazon, Zoom, Xerox, and Teleperformance. The company claims its technology solves the high costs and time requirements of traditional video production, saving users up to 80 percent of their budget and time.
Financial statements for the year ending 31 December 2024 show Synthesia generated £58.3m in revenue. During the same period, the business recorded a £56.5m loss. While the company's latest accounts listed 353 employees, more recent data from LinkedIn indicates a headcount of 772 staff members.
The latest investment of £423.8k is classified as a seed round. Documentation for the share allotment was filed in March (following an allotment in February). This capital injection follows the company's growth since its incorporation in 2017.
