Sheffield Biotech Silvia Bio Raises Capital For Cell Engineering Platform
Published
Biomanufacturing companies seeking faster and more reliable output of biologics are the primary market for Silvia Bio Limited, which has just secured an estimated £125k in its recent funding round. The Sheffield-based firm utilizes a proprietary platform to deconstruct mammalian cell factories into their component parts. This process allows the team to pinpoint critical cellular parameters (CCPs) that frequently limit production objectives.
Incorporated in July 2025, the startup applies non-genetic engineering techniques to manage these variables. By achieving optimal set-points through this method, the technology is designed to improve both the yield and the quality of biological products while providing a more cost-effective alternative to standard methods. This approach addresses bottlenecks in the manufacturing pipeline without the complexities of traditional genetic modification.
The latest investment contributes to a total of £2.3m raised by the business during 2026. The company currently employs four people. Formal documentation for the transaction was completed in July.
