An estimated £1m has been raised by Academy of Robotics Limited, a technology firm focusing on self-adapting machines and task-specific artificial intelligence. This capital injection contributes to a total of £2.6m secured by the Norwich-based business during 2026. The company develops its technology by combining mechatronics with machine learning techniques.
Founded in 2014, the firm specialises in autonomous vehicle development and deep learning vision systems to simplify complex tasks. Its technical team of engineers and researchers launched some of the first self-driving cars in Europe in 2020. These vehicles have undergone testing on UK roads for the past six years.
The company operates within the motor vehicle manufacturing industry from its Norfolk headquarters. Its research and experimental development work in engineering and natural sciences is complemented by computer consultancy services. While statutory accounts for the year ended 31 December 2023 recorded two employees, current LinkedIn data indicates a team of eight. This funding round follows an allotment of shares in February, with formal documentation filed in May.
