Vet Vision Ai secures £494k seed funding for livestock monitoring technology
Published
AI-driven computer vision algorithms developed by Vet Vision Ai Limited are the focus of a new seed funding round estimated at £494.1k. Based in Belper, the company is a spin-out from the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science. It specializes in camera-based monitoring systems that provide continuous, real-time data on animal health, behavior, and welfare.
The tools are designed for use by veterinarians, farmers, and animal owners to facilitate early disease detection and objective welfare assessments. By integrating veterinary expertise with computer vision technology, the company provides automated systems that monitor livestock health without the need for manual intervention. This technology allows for the identification of behavioral changes that may indicate the onset of illness or distress in animals.
This seed investment follows three previous funding rounds completed in March 2025. Those rounds consisted of £155.3k, £734.8k, and £249.9k respectively. The documentation for the current round was filed in March 2026 (following a share allotment in February 2026).
Vet Vision Ai was incorporated in 2023. Recent financial filings recorded a headcount of four employees, though LinkedIn data indicates the workforce has since expanded to 13 staff members. The company operates at the intersection of software development and veterinary activities, focusing on the commercialization of academic research into livestock health and the development of scalable monitoring solutions for the agricultural sector.
