Investigative journalism and slow-journalism are at the center of a new estimated £6.9m funding round for Tortoise Media Ltd. Based in London, the firm operates a platform for podcasts and live discussion events called ThinkIns. This considered approach focuses on the drivers behind the news rather than immediate breaking reports.
The company was incorporated in 2017 to open up journalism to a wider audience. To expand its reach, it recently merged its digital newsroom with The Observer. This latest investment (August 2026) follows a total of £27.9m raised in 2025.
LinkedIn data indicates the organization currently has a workforce of 33 employees. The staff operates a system of organized listening where members participate in unscripted conversations to inform the editorial point of view. Financial records for the year ended 31 December 2024 are the most recent accounts available for the business.
