Soilsmiths secures £47.5k for soil health biotechnology

Enhancing soil biology through microbial inoculants and organic micronutrients is the focus of Farnborough-based T.i. Soil Ecology Laboratory Ltd, which has just raised approximately £47.5k. Trading as Soilsmiths, the biotechnology firm reached an estimated post-money valuation of £1.1m following the investment. Its products and soil health training are designed to improve soil structure and natural nutrient cycling.

Founded in 2020, the business targets farmers and the wider agricultural sector to improve crop nutrition. According to its latest accounts for the year ended 30 September 2025, the company employed seven people.

The current valuation matches the figure recorded during a £76.5k round in June 2025. This follows a period of valuation fluctuation, including a peak of £1.4m during a £45k raise in May 2024. Earlier funding history includes £89.3k at a £784.5k valuation in March 2023, £73k at £695.2k in June 2022, and an initial £111k raise at a £622.2k valuation in April 2021.

Documentation for this latest capital injection was filed in June 2026 (following an allotment of shares in May).
