Leeds-based Switchdye secures £525k pre-seed for sustainable textile technology

Sustainable dyeing technology developer Switchdye Limited has raised an estimated £525k in a pre-seed funding round. The Leeds-based company reached an estimated post-money valuation of £3m following the investment.
Incorporated in June 2025, Switchdye focuses on reducing the environmental impact of synthetic textile production. Its patented CO2-switchable dye system uses carbonated water to cut chemical usage by up to 90% and water consumption by 40%. The technology is specifically designed for polyester dyeing and aims to eliminate the need for traditional chemical auxiliaries and hazardous finishing steps.
The company targets global textile manufacturers and fashion brands. Its solution is built to be compatible with existing industrial equipment, allowing mills to integrate the process without significant infrastructure changes. The technology also improves the recyclability of fabrics by making it easier to remove dyes during the recycling process.
Documentation filed in March 2026 confirms the appointment of three directors to the board: Dr Nathaniel Crompton, Dr Philip John Double, and Samuel Luke Walton. These appointments were made alongside the allotment of shares for this funding round.
Switchdye currently operates with a team of three employees. The company is headquartered in Leeds, where it manages its research and development into clean chemical manufacturing. This pre-seed capital follows the company's initial founding year and provides the resources to further its goal of making textile colouration more efficient and compliant with environmental standards.
