SphereTrax secures £120k to scale music licensing platform

Hitchin-based music licensing platform and record label SphereTrax has raised £120k in a recent funding round. This investment brings the company's estimated post-money valuation to £3.7m. Founded in 2022, the business provides a digital marketplace where artists upload music for use by filmmakers, advertising agencies, and gaming companies.

The platform utilizes patented search technology and a feature called The Screening Room, which allows industry professionals to test audio tracks against video content in real time. SphereTrax also supports Dolby Atmos audio, targeting the demand for immersive sound in high-end on-screen productions. The company offers a curated catalogue of pre-cleared commercial music, aiming to simplify the traditional sync licensing process.

Financial records for the year ending 31 May 2025 listed two employees, though more recent data indicates the team has expanded to 12 staff members. The company was established by the founders of Soundtrack Creation to address inefficiencies in how music is searched, synced, and licensed globally.

The £120k capital injection was finalized in May (2026). This funding follows the company's development of its technical infrastructure, which focuses on collaborative tools for creative professionals. SphereTrax operates within the media production industry, providing immediate licensing for various types of immersive and traditional content.
