Sonic Data secures £450k for audio tracking technology
Published
Sonic Data Limited, the developer of the patented SonicKey technology, has raised an estimated £450.5k in a new funding round. Based in Saffron Walden, the company specializes in audio identification and tracking solutions for the global music industry.
The SonicKey platform enables audio content to be identifiable and referenceable from the moment of creation to the point of consumption. This technology provides artists, rights holders, and music companies with data regarding the usage of their work across social media, broadcast channels, and public performances. The platform provides agile detection solutions to help creators maximize their revenues by ensuring audio usage is accurately tracked.
Incorporated in 2013, Sonic Data has developed its detection systems to serve artists and rights holders. The latest capital injection (allotted in March 2026) follows a period of frequent, smaller fundraising activity. In 2025, the company completed ten separate funding rounds. These included a £49.7k round in March, followed by two rounds in July totaling £240.8k. Further activity in September and October 2025 brought in approximately £175.6k, while four separate tranches in November 2025 added a combined £214.4k.
Financial records for the year ended 31 May 2025 show that the company employed one person. The current £450.5k round is larger than any of the individual financing tranches recorded for the firm during the 2025 calendar year. Sonic Data continues to focus on the music publishing and sound recording sectors, offering tools to solve the complexities of rights management and usage monitoring.
