Automating the production of precision medicines is the core focus of Microfluidx Ltd, which has raised an estimated £135.7k in its latest funding round. Based in Stevenage, the company develops the Cyto Engine, a scalable bioprocessing platform designed specifically for cell and gene therapy manufacturing.

The platform includes the Cyto Engine Stack, a stackable multi-bioreactor instrument that provides automated solutions for manufacturers. Microfluidx aims to make these therapies more accessible by addressing industry challenges in process control, scalability, and high manufacturing costs. The company was incorporated in 2018 and has since focused on the technical development of its hardware and software bioprocessing solutions.

This latest capital injection follows several previous funding rounds. Microfluidx raised £1.7m in May 2025 and £74.9k in August 2024. Earlier investment rounds include £2.5m in October 2023 and £3.3m in April 2022. The company also recorded a smaller round of £43.2k in March 2021.

According to its latest financial accounts for the year ending 31 March 2025, Microfluidx employs 22 people. The company is based in Stevenage and focuses on the commercialisation of its stackable bioreactor technology. The recent funding was formalised through an allotment of shares (March 2026), with documentation filed the following month.
