Llusern Scientific secures £136.2k for diagnostic technology

A portable, LAMP-based molecular diagnostic platform designed for near-patient healthcare settings has received £136.2k in new funding for Llusern Scientific. Based in Cardiff, the company manufactures point-of-care solutions that provide lab-accurate results in 35 minutes.

The technology identifies specific bacteria to help urologists and specialist clinicians make immediate decisions regarding patient treatment pathways. Founded in 2020, the business focuses on the rapid detection of urinary tract infections.

This latest capital injection follows a total of £120k raised during 2025 (documentation for the current round was filed in June). Operations are conducted within the biotechnology research and development sector.

Financial records for the year ended 30 April 2025 reported a headcount of 8 staff members. More recent LinkedIn data indicates the team currently consists of 10 employees, with assay development and urology listed as core specialties.
