Antiverse secures £3m Series A for AI-powered antibody discovery

Cardiff-based Antiverse has secured an estimated £3m Series A round to advance its machine learning platform for antibody discovery. The techbio company specializes in designing de novo antibody therapeutics for challenging drug targets, specifically G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) and ion channels.

Founded in 2017, Antiverse addresses the technical difficulties of identifying antibodies for complex proteins that are often resistant to traditional discovery methods. The company combines advanced cell line engineering with machine learning techniques to develop its therapeutic candidates. Its primary client base consists of global pharmaceutical companies in North America and Europe, where it operates through strategic partnerships and collaborative discovery programs.

The company maintains its headquarters in Cardiff and operates an additional office in Boston, Massachusetts. Financial records for the year ended 30 April 2025 showed a headcount of 15 employees. More recent data from LinkedIn suggests the team has grown to 29 staff members.

The Series A funding follows an allotment of shares (February), with formal documentation filed in May. This period also saw the appointment of Michal Sikyta as a director of the company.

Antiverse utilizes its proprietary technology to create enabling tools for the drug discovery process. By focusing on GPCRs and ion channels, the firm targets biological structures that are critical for various physiological processes but difficult to engage with standard antibody libraries. The capital from this round will support the continued development of these de novo therapeutics.

While the specific valuation associated with this Series A raise was not disclosed in the recent filings, the round marks a continuation of the company growth since its incorporation nine years ago. The firm remains focused on its core mission of using engineering and computational methods to bring new therapies to patients.
