Icon Tower Infrastructure secures £2m for wireless site expansion

Published

Providing the physical foundations for mobile connectivity, Icon Tower Infrastructure has secured an estimated £2m in new funding. The Didsbury-based company operates as a global wireless telecommunications infrastructure provider, focusing on the ownership and management of passive assets. Its portfolio includes masts, towers, and associated sites which are leased to Mobile Network Operators and other electronic communications providers.

The company was incorporated in 2017 and serves a target market that requires dedicated physical locations to deploy active network equipment. By providing these sites, Icon Tower Infrastructure enables operators to expand their network coverage without the need to build and maintain their own proprietary tower assets. The business model centers on the long-term leasing of these passive structures to multiple tenants.

According to its latest financial accounts for the year ended 31 December 2024, the business recorded revenue of £1.8m. The filings also show a £3.1m loss for the period. At the time of the report, the company maintained a headcount of four employees. A specific valuation for this round was not disclosed in the available data, and no details were available regarding previous funding rounds for comparison.

This latest funding round follows an allotment of shares (April) and formal documentation (May). The £2m injection provides additional capital for the company's portfolio of passive infrastructure sites. Icon Tower Infrastructure continues to focus on the passive side of network deployment from its headquarters in Greater Manchester, acting as a landlord for the hardware that powers mobile communications.
