Hymarnham Power secures £500k to expand East Midlands hydrogen distribution
Published
Low-carbon hydrogen production and distribution in the East Midlands will receive a boost following a £500k funding round by Hymarnham Power Limited. The Sheffield-based company operates as a joint venture dedicated to supporting industrial decarbonisation through the use of renewable power and electrolysers.
Incorporated in 2023, Hymarnham Power Limited focuses on three primary pillars: industrial decarbonisation, off-grid power, and hydrogen mobility. The firm produces and stores hydrogen gas to serve businesses looking to transition away from carbon-intensive energy sources. Its operations are designed to provide a localized supply chain for hydrogen, specifically targeting the needs of the East Midlands industrial corridor.
The latest funding round reached an estimated size of £500k (with an allotment date in April and documentation filed in May). This capital injection follows the company's financial year ended 31 March 2025. While specific revenue and profit figures from the latest accounts were not disclosed, the company remains in its early growth phase following its 2023 launch.
Hymarnham Power Limited utilizes electrolyser technology to generate hydrogen from renewable electricity. This process allows the company to offer a low-carbon alternative for heavy industry and transport sectors that are difficult to electrify using traditional battery technology. The company's distribution model includes both on-site storage and transport solutions to ensure a consistent supply for off-grid power requirements and hydrogen-fueled vehicle fleets.
