Pieter Kooyman, an experienced games executive, founded Half Moon Studios to automate the development and scaling of interactive entertainment software. Based in London, the company specializes in computer games design and programming, with a current focus on the quiz category. The studio utilizes machine learning and artificial intelligence to manage content production, marketing, and organizational tasks.

The company has raised £150k in its most recent funding round, resulting in an estimated post-money valuation of £6.7m. This latest capital injection follows a similar £150k raise in March 2025, which valued the business at £6.6m. Earlier in its development, the company secured £355k in February 2023 at a valuation of £2.8m.

Half Moon Studios was incorporated in 2022 and currently operates with a team of nine employees. The firm positions itself as a small tech company that uses automation to challenge traditional game development models. Its internal systems are designed to reduce manual labor in content creation and administrative functions such as accounting.

The studio's background includes support from several high-profile angel investors. These individuals hold experience at mobile gaming and technology firms including Miniclip, Space Ape, Tripledot, Fumb Games, Playsimple, and Mopub.

The documentation for the new share allotment was filed in May (with an allotment date of May 2025). The company continues to test its automated systems within the quiz genre as it scales its content production capabilities.
