H2chp Limited raises £1.1m Series A for maritime power generators
Published
Zero-carbon power for the maritime industry is the focus of H2chp Limited, which has raised an estimated £1.1m in a Series A funding round. Based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, the company develops fuel-flexible free-piston linear generators designed to provide clean electricity and heat. Its technology is built for the maritime sector and off-grid power markets, allowing for seamless switching between renewable fuels like hydrogen and ammonia.
Founded in 2022, H2chp Limited addresses the requirement for distributed energy systems and zero-carbon power for vessels at berth. The company's generators are designed to replace traditional combustion engines with a more flexible alternative that can adapt to various green fuel sources. H2chp Limited currently employs 14 people at its Newcastle base.
This latest funding round results in an estimated post-money valuation of £4.4m. The Series A investment follows a sequence of smaller funding injections over the previous year. These include a £110.2k round in June 2025, a £110k round in April 2025, and a £407.4k round in November 2024.
The company focuses on engineering hardware specifically for fuel flexibility. By enabling maritime vessels to switch between hydrogen and ammonia, the technology provides a path for operators to reduce carbon emissions during port operations and in remote power applications. Documentation for this latest allotment was filed in March 2026.
