London-based Fering Technologies Raises £249.9k for Extreme Environment Hybrid-Electric Vehicles

Fering Technologies Limited, a London-based innovator in advanced vehicle manufacturing, has successfully secured £249.9k in its latest funding round. The capital, formally allotted on 31 July 2025 and filed on 1 May 2026, will support the company's ongoing development of ultra-lightweight, modular, and mission-focused hybrid-electric vehicles designed for challenging terrains and extended operations.

Founded on 8 October 2019, Fering Technologies addresses a niche yet critical demand for robust and efficient vehicles in extreme environments. The company specialises in creating hybrid-electric platforms tailored for a diverse range of applications, including exploration, specialist military units, industrial teams, disaster relief efforts, and anti-poaching operations. These vehicles are engineered to offer long-range capabilities and resilience where conventional vehicles may fall short. The company currently employs 13 individuals, reflecting its focused and specialised operational structure.

This latest funding injection of £249.9k marks another step in Fering Technologies' capitalisation journey. While a specific valuation for this particular allotment was not disclosed, the company has a history of attracting investment to fuel its growth. Previous funding rounds include £90k raised in November 2019 at a £200k valuation, followed by £30k in May 2021 at a £180k valuation, and £25k in August 2021 at a £150.7k valuation. In February 2022, Fering Technologies secured £14.1k at a valuation of £455.7k, and a further £70.3k in May 2022. More recently, in November 2025, the company raised a substantial £600k. The current £249.9k round, while smaller than the immediately preceding £600k raise, demonstrates continued investor confidence in the company's vision and technological advancements.

Fering Technologies operates within the broader UK automotive manufacturing sector, a landscape currently undergoing significant transformation and attracting substantial investment, particularly in the realm of zero-emission and advanced vehicle technologies. The UK government has demonstrated a strong commitment to this sector through initiatives like DRIVE35, a £2.5 billion programme extending until 2035, aimed at bolstering advanced manufacturing, research and development, and the scaling up of zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) technologies. This strategic focus is designed to enhance the UK's position as a global leader in ZEV manufacturing and supply chains.

The company's hybrid-electric vehicle development aligns with the growing emphasis on clean technology and deep tech within the UK. The cleantech sector in the UK has seen considerable growth, with funding reaching £7.2bn in 2025, a notable increase from £5.6bn in the previous year, positioning the UK as a European leader in this space. Deep tech, encompassing advanced manufacturing and clean energy, now accounts for 31% of all UK venture capital funding, a threefold increase over the last decade. UK deep tech startups, in general, tend to secure larger funding rounds at every stage and exhibit a more reliable progression from seed to Series A.

However, the broader cleantech funding landscape also presents challenges, particularly for early-stage, hardware-intensive startups. Reports indicate a trend of capital concentrating in software and later-stage companies, with a significant decline in early-stage funding for hardware-focused ventures. Despite this, the UK automotive industry is poised for a substantial boost, with the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) identifying a £4.6 billion opportunity for the domestic supply chain by the end of the decade, driven by the transition to electric vehicles and a surging demand for components like electric motors and power electronics. Fering Technologies, with its innovative approach to specialised hybrid-electric vehicles, is well-positioned to contribute to and benefit from these long-term strategic shifts in the UK's advanced manufacturing and clean transport sectors.
