Cardiovascular devices developed by Echopoint Medical that utilize light-based sensors have received a £1.2m capital injection. The London-based company manufactures instruments that provide advanced imaging and physiological information for interventional cardiology procedures. These tools employ laser physics and nanofabrication to improve how patients with heart disease are treated.

Founded in 2018 as a UCL spin-out, the startup aims to reduce costs and complications in minimally invasive surgical operations through breakthrough detection hardware and algorithms. This latest round brings the total amount raised by the business in 2026 to £3.6m. This follows a smaller funding figure of £236.1k recorded during the previous twelve-month period.

While company accounts for the year ended 31 December 2025 listed six employees, current LinkedIn data indicates the workforce has grown to 17 people. The development team includes engineers and clinicians focused on cardiac electrophysiology, optical ultrasound, and data analytics. (The allotment for this investment was filed in September).
