Dropcode Bio secures £1.1m seed round for AI-driven protein discovery

Biotechnology and pharmaceutical organisations can now utilise the services of a droplet-microfluidics platform developed by Dropcode Bio Ltd to accelerate protein discovery and engineering. The London-based company uses dual DNA-barcode technology to conduct millions of protein-function experiments every hour, producing large-scale datasets specifically for AI-driven analysis. Incorporated in 2024, the business focuses on engineering design activities for industrial process and production to solve the bottleneck of acquiring high-throughput experimental data.

The startup recently closed a seed funding round with an estimated size of £1.1m, bringing its total funding for 2026 to that same amount. This matches the figure recorded for the company in 2025. Formal documentation for the transaction was filed in August, following an allotment of shares that took place in June.

Financial records for the year ending 30 September 2025 indicate that the firm operated with a team of three employees.
