Contractbuddy secures £50k for deterministic contract analysis software
Published
An estimated £50k investment has been raised by Contractbuddy Ltd, an Epping-based developer of automated contract-checking software. This funding values the startup at approximately £200k. Founded in May 2025, the company targets creators and talent managers who negotiate entertainment and media contracts.
The startup developed the ContractBuddyApp to address the time-intensive nature of manual legal reviews and the inaccuracies associated with generic AI tools. The software analyzes documents in under 60 seconds using deterministic clause-matching rather than generative AI. This approach compares talent agreements against a library built from real-world contracts to provide explainable, consistent results without the risk of hallucinations.
Analysis results are delivered in plain English and color-coded green, amber, or red to highlight matches, discrepancies, and missing terms. To ensure data privacy, the platform uses row-level security and encryption, avoiding the use of shared public AI models for processing. The system focuses on specific deal components such as payment terms, usage rights, exclusivity, and intellectual property.
LinkedIn data indicates the company currently operates with a single employee. This funding round follows an allotment of shares in March 2026, with formal documentation filed the following September.
