Browzly raises £25k for AI-powered phonics tools

The voice-AI reading platform PhonicBear has secured £25k in new funding to support its application for early-years and primary classrooms. This latest investment values the London-based developer, Browzly Ltd, at an estimated £1.4m.

Founded in 2018, the firm develops software that aligns with Science of Reading methods to provide teachers with ongoing monitoring and intervention guidance. Its core product is trained to listen to young students as they practice sounds and decodable texts. The system automates baseline assessments to place learners into phonics schemes and provides feedback on decoding accuracy, fluency, and prosody.

The business explicitly avoids the use of student-facing Generative AI in its pronunciation assessment tools. It was previously recognized as a BETT awards finalist for its pedagogical approach to independent literacy pathways.

Financial records for the year ended 31 March 2025 show the company employed one person, though LinkedIn data indicates a current headcount of six staff members. The allotment for this round was filed in September 2026.
