Astratus Limited secures £445.3k for antimicrobial testing platform

Astratus Limited is developing a rapid, automated antimicrobial susceptibility testing platform to provide digital results from urine or bacterial isolates in under six hours. The Reading-based company has raised £445.3k in a recent funding round, which places the business at an estimated post-money valuation of £3.1m.

Incorporated in 2024, the company utilizes microcapillary technology to accelerate the diagnostic process. This platform is designed for use across human clinical, veterinary, and therapeutic research markets. The primary objective of the technology is to combat antibiotic resistance by enabling better antimicrobial stewardship through faster data delivery.

The funding round was finalized in April, with documentation filed the same month. This investment follows the company's establishment last year and supports its ongoing work in the medical instrument sector. By reducing the time required to identify effective treatments, the platform seeks to address delays often associated with traditional bacterial isolate testing.

Astratus Limited focuses on providing automated solutions that can be integrated into existing clinical and research workflows. The company currently lists two employees in its latest records. Its presence in Reading places it within the South East technology corridor as it moves from its initial incorporation phase into active development.
