Compact nuclear fusion technology developer Astral Neutronics Ltd has secured an estimated £19.4m in new funding. The Bristol-based company, which trades as Astral Systems, manufactures reactors utilizing Multi-State Fusion technology to produce on-demand radioisotopes.

Founded in 2021, the firm addresses the supply of isotopes required for the radiopharmaceutical market, specifically for cancer research and treatment. Its technology also has applications in industrial non-destructive testing, radiography, and fusion energy research. The company currently employs 15 people.

This latest round (allotted in April 2026) follows a series of smaller capital raises over the previous 24 months. Astral Systems previously secured a £3.5m seed round in July 2024. Other funding events include a £730k raise in January 2025 and a £500k injection in May 2025. The company also recorded smaller allotments of £250k and £135k in June 2024, alongside a £25k raise in February 2025.

The £19.4m figure represents the largest single funding event for the company since its incorporation. By producing radioisotopes through compact reactors, the business provides an alternative to traditional large-scale nuclear infrastructure for medical and industrial sectors. The company focuses on the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products through its proprietary fusion systems.
