Water companies seeking cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternatives for waste management are the primary target for a new technology developed by Aspcold Limited. The Leeds-based startup transforms alum sludge, a by-product of the water treatment process, into a dry, reusable material for potential use in sustainable construction applications.

A recent investment round has seen the company secure an estimated £100k. This follows previous activity earlier this year, bringing the cumulative funding to £180k. Based on the share issuance, the business reached an indicative post-money valuation of £2m.

The environmental services firm was incorporated in 2023 and currently maintains a workforce of two employees. According to its digital profile, Aspcold operates the website aspcold.com to showcase its zero-waste solutions.
