Argonaute RNA secures £1.3m to advance gene silencing therapeutics

An estimated £1.3m has been raised by Argonaute RNA Limited to further the development of its RNA-interference therapeutics. Incorporated in 2015, the Cardiff-based company applies a proprietary modification to stabilise small-interfering RNA (siRNA) to enable safe, short-duration gene silencing. This technology targets disease areas such as cardiometabolic disorders by preventing the production of specific proteins within tissue cells through bispecific and dual-molecule structures.

The platform aims to overcome historical obstacles that have hindered the development of these drugs for human use. Beyond its primary office, the firm also maintains a presence in Bristol City Centre.

This latest investment brings the total capital raised during 2026 to £2.3m (September 2026). Recent accounts for the period ending in late 2025 recorded eight employees, while current social media profiles list a headcount of 13.
