FoulGuardAI, a machine learning platform designed to detect biofouling in industrial water systems, is the flagship product of Manchester-based Aquaminds Ltd, which has recently secured new funding. The company raised £40.1k in its latest round, resulting in an estimated post-money valuation of £840k.
Founded in May 2025, Aquaminds Ltd develops custom AI models and software for industrial applications. Its primary solution, FoulGuardAI, addresses the problem of early fouling and biofouling detection in water treatment and desalination systems. The technology is used across sectors including municipal water, energy, manufacturing, and food processing.
The platform utilizes deep learning and real-time sensor analytics to help operators identify performance issues before they escalate. By optimizing cleaning schedules and reducing chemical consumption, the software aims to extend the lifespan of filtration membranes and protect industrial assets. Aquaminds provides the solution as both a cloud-based platform and a high-security offline package for facilities with specific cybersecurity requirements.
The company currently employs seven people at its Manchester headquarters. Recent corporate filings show the appointment of two directors, Abdullah Otayyiq and Dr. Albiladi, in April.
This latest capital injection of £40.1k values the year-old startup at £840k (with documentation filed in May). The team behind the technology includes specialists in chemical engineering, data science, and water treatment.
