Southend-based 113 Botanicals secures £220k for cannabinoid medicine development

Based in Southend On Sea, the company develops extraction technologies to produce cannabinoid extracts intended for the pharmaceutical and medical markets. The firm aims to address issues of safety, efficacy, and affordability within the CBPM sector.

Incorporated in 2019, 113 Botanicals focuses on the research and experimental development of biotechnology. The company is working on innovative technologies for the extraction of cannabinoid extracts to create high-quality medicines. According to the latest accounts for the year ended 31 August 2024, the business maintained a headcount of three employees.

This latest investment (allotted in May 2026) follows a consistent pattern of capital raises for the Southend-based firm. Earlier in 2026, the company completed two rounds consisting of £77.5k in March and £124.5k in February. During 2025, the company secured £140k in August and £92.5k in January.

The company has a history of frequent funding rounds dating back to 2022. In 2024, it raised £295k in July, which followed a £150k round in November 2023. During 2022, the company raised a total of £620k across four separate allotments in April, May, and September. With the addition of this latest £220k round, the total capital raised by 113 Botanicals since 2022 stands at approximately £1.7m.
