Naked Energy secures £4.9m to scale solar thermal technology

Decarbonising heat and power in the built environment is the core mission of Crawley-based Naked Energy, which has secured £4.9m in its latest funding round. Founded in 2009, the business designs and engineers high-density solar thermal and photovoltaic thermal (PVT) technology for commercial and industrial applications.

The company’s product line features the VirtuPVT and VirtuHOT collectors, the latter of which has been tested by TUV Rheinland and certified to Solar Keymark and SRCC standards. These systems provide off-grid solutions for sectors such as hotels, hospitals, and food manufacturing plants. Hardware is supported by Clarity software, a platform used for system design, operations, maintenance, and heat-as-a-service models.

Financial records for the year ended 30 September 2025 show the firm had 23 employees at that time. More recent data from LinkedIn indicates a current headcount of 42.

The company was the winner of the 2021 CIBSE Building Performance Award in the thermal comfort category. Documentation for this investment was filed in September 2026 (following an allotment of shares in July).
