Edinburgh-based Macomics secures seed funding for drug discovery platform
Published
An estimated £11.1m seed round has been raised by Macomics Ltd to support the development of its macrophage-modulating precision medicines. Based in Edinburgh and founded in 2018, the immuno-oncology company identifies and validates novel therapeutic targets for the treatment of cancer and fibrotic diseases.
The business utilizes its proprietary ENIGMAC drug discovery platform to translate human disease-specific macrophage biology into actionable targets. This process is supported by the Macrophage Atlas, which comprises a large global collection of pan-disease and healthy tissue RNAseq data. Bioinformatics expertise is applied to this resource to explore the role of these cells in driving disease states.
LinkedIn data indicates the biotechnology research firm employs 24 people. The company is currently focused on a proprietary pipeline targeting castrate-resistant prostate malignancies, neurodegeneration, and neuroinflammation.
Financial accounts for the year ending 31 March 2025 reported a £1.2m loss. This latest investment constitutes the total funding raised by the entity during 2026 (with an allotment date in May and formal documentation filed in June).
