Biotech startup secures £95k for bioprocessing material development

Developing novel biomaterials for bioprocessing, Southsea-based Kalvotech Limited has secured an estimated £95k in its latest funding round. The investment values the biotechnology firm at approximately £875.6k. Founded in 2023, the company focuses on creating advanced materials tailored for these purposes.

The startup provides processes and services supporting cell cultivation and various biomedical applications. To facilitate industrial research collaborations, Kalvotech is currently creating an edible high-flow micro-reactor. This technology supports complex laboratory environments and large-scale experimentation.

This latest capital injection brings the total funding raised by the business in 2026 to £265k. This follows a total of £145.4k raised during 2025. According to accounts for the year ended 31 January 2026, the company employs five people. Documentation for this specific allotment (dated August) was filed in September.
