Hull-based Halocycle secures £198k for plastic recycling technology

Microwave processing technology developer Halocycle Limited has secured an estimated £198.2k in its latest funding round. Based in Hull, the company focuses on treating chlorine-containing plastics such as PVC and PVDC, which are traditionally difficult to recycle and often end up in landfills or incinerators.

The company was incorporated in 2020 and is led by a team with four decades of combined experience in industrial and environmental sectors. Halocycle uses its technology to transform plastic waste back into oil and gas. These materials are intended for reintroduction into the polymer production process, supporting a circular economy within the plastics packaging supply chain.

This latest funding follows several previous investment rounds. In April 2024, the business raised £221k. A larger round of £251.2k was completed in June 2023, which placed the company at a valuation of £1.7m. Earlier activity includes a £175k round in April 2023 and two separate rounds in February 2022 for £105k and £139k. The company's earliest recorded funding was an £18.5k round in November 2021 at a valuation of £134.8k.

Financial records for the year ended 31 December 2025 show the company employed four people, though data from LinkedIn suggests the headcount has since reached six. The business operates from East Yorkshire and targets the reduction of plastic waste leakage into the environment.

The documentation for this latest share allotment was filed in May (following an allotment in April). The capital will be used to continue the deployment of microwave processing as a solution for the global plastics problem.
