Academy of Robotics raises £3m to scale autonomous vehicle development

Developing self-adapting machines through mechatronics and machine learning, Academy of Robotics has secured an estimated £3m in new funding. This capital injection brings the total amount raised by the Norwich-based company in 2026 to £5.6m. The firm focuses on task-specific artificial intelligence and vision systems to simplify complex tasks.

Founded in 2014, the business launched some of the first self-driving cars in Europe in 2020 and has since conducted road testing across the UK. Its team of engineers and researchers provides computer consultancy services to business clients alongside its core work in autonomous technology. LinkedIn data suggests the current headcount is seven people.

Financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2023 recorded a headcount of two employees. The company carries out research and experimental development within the natural sciences and engineering sectors. Documentation for this funding round was filed in September 2026 following an allotment of shares in August.
